Swine & Dine is a competitive BBQ team and top 10 fundraiser that participates in the Hogs for the Cause Festival every year. Hogs for the Cause is a non-profit that raises money for families whose children have been diagnosed with pediatric brain cancer. Since 2017, we have raised over $150,000, and countless hours of volunteer work to put a smile on a precious face. This 35-person team is deeply passionate by building their own camp-style restaurant booths, cooking their own dishes and selling their most wanted food items to raise money for Children’s Hospital. They have partnered also with Mahoney’s Po-Boys and Chick-fil-a of Harvey and Marrero who are an integral part of the team. The team camps out for 48 hours on the festival grounds to cook and prepare to sell all of their amazing dishes.

Over the years we have placed in different categories but this year the team has won many awards that includes Top 10 Fundraiser, 7^th overall Grand Champion and placed in different judged food categories that include: Whole Hog, Pork Ribs, Boston Butt/Shoulder, Porkpourri, Blue Plate and Tabasco.

In 2018 we raised over $75,000 in two years and we were honored with a room dedicated in our team’s name at the HOGS House at Children’s Hospital.

In 2020 our team was inducted into the Hog of Fame for their grateful recognition of service and dedication to Hogs for the Cause.

In 2021 our team had another amazing recognition, we placed FIRST in the Blue Plate Category. Our award-winning blueberry lemon cupcake was a team and a judge favorite.

In 2022 our team placed 5th OVERALL, with Top Ten finishes in 3 of 4 major categories: 2nd in Ribs, 7th in Porkpourri and 9th in Whole Hog.

Our team spends countless hours away from their families to put a smile on another. The motto for Hogs for the Cause is “TOGETHER WE CAN DO SOMETHING GREAT.”
